Airport

Barcelona-El Prat Airport is the closest airport. All major airlines operate services from/to Barcelona, with direct flights from/to the main European cities. Also, several companies (i.e., Vueling, Iberia) operates numerous daily services connecting Barcelona with Madrid. There are several terminals in the airport, all connected with a free shuttle bus, please check the departure/arrival terminal of your flying company during the booking. The airport is situated sixteen kilometres from the city centre and there are several types of transport. All the services to commute to/from the city centre are located outside the entrance/exit to the airport terminals.

    • TAXI: Taxi fares from the Airport to the city are approximately 40€ but check with the driver before departure.
    • BUS: AEROBÚS is the official shuttle bus service that connects Barcelona Airport (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) with the city centre (Pl. Catalunya) in 35 minutes. In addition, it also stops at several strategic points with metro stations in Barcelona: Pl. Espanya, Gran Via-Urgell, Pl. Universidad and runs every 5 minutes. From 5,90€ a single trip or 10.20€ a return ticket (valid for 15 days).
    • TRAIN: The train line R2 is currently the only line that connects the airport with Barcelona or other cities from Catalunya (it belongs to Rodalies de Catalunya Renfe trains). The train stops at several strategic points in Barcelona: Sants Estació (19 minutes), Pg. Gracia (26 minutes), Clot-Aragó (32 minutes) and Estació de França (38 minutes), and runs every 30 minutes. Airport train station is located 200 meters outside Terminal 2 (connected with Terminal 1 by the airport shuttle bus). The price is 4.20€ for a single ticket and is only valid for the train. Another option is to buy a T-10 card of 1 zone (10.20€ for a total of ten trips), that will be valid for metro and city buses during the following days.
    • METRO: The line L9 Sud Metro connects Barcelona with the airport. The L9 Sud has stops at 15 stations until it gets to the airport terminals. The line begins at Zona Universitària station and stops at: Zona Universitària, Collblanc, Torrassa, Can Tries/Gornal, Europa/Fira, Fira, Parc Logístic, Mercabarna, Les Moreres, El Prat Estació, Cèntric, Parc Nou, Mes Blau, Aeroport-T2 and Aeroport-T1. The estimated travel time is 32 minutes from the Zona Universitària station to the last stop at T1 and the frequency of passing is around 7 minutes. Airport fare for a single trip: 4.60€ (T-10 card is not valid).

Trains

Barcelona Sants Estació is the major station in the city centre. From here it is possible to reach any major Spanish city. It is connected with metro lines L3 and L5. Train tickets can be bought at the train station, and online: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html
